Juin marque la fin d’une saison et le début d’une autre… C’est la fin de l’année scolaire et le début de l’été. Pour les diplômés, cela peut aussi signifier la fin de l’école et le début d’une carrière.
Pour de nombreux officiers de l’Armée du Salut, juin est souvent le moment de mettre fin à un mandat pour en commencer un nouveau.
Dans un peu moins de 2 semaines, notre séjour en Belgique prendra fin. Nous retournerons au Royaume-Uni pour commencer une nouvelle mission.
Les fins et les débuts peuvent susciter un certain nombre d’émotions différentes: tristesse de quitter ce qui nous est familier, peur de l’avenir inconnu mais aussi l’anticipation et l’excitation pour le début d’une nouvelle aventure.
Quels que soient les débuts et fins auxquels nous sommes confrontés dans la vie, nous demeurons « toujours avec Dieu car Il est l’Alpha et l’Oméga » et nous pouvons lui faire confiance, il est toujours avec nous en toutes circonstances.
La vie est une question de fins et de débuts.
Quels débuts vivons-nous au cours de notre vie ? obtention d’un diplôme d’études, début d’un nouvel emploi, fondation d’une famille, emménagement dans une nouvelle maison, nouveaux amis,…
Quelles fins vivons nous? Changements en matière de santé ayant une incidence sur la qualité ou conditions de vie, décès d’un membre de la famille ou d’un ami, déménagement des enfants pour prendre un nouveau départ ou une maison plus petite, …
Certains débuts et fins sont bons et d’autres pas…Cependant, quel que soit le début ou la fin auxquels nous sommes confrontés, nous pouvons juste observer et voir que Dieu est le Dieu de tous les commencements et de toutes les fins.
Si vous ouvrez la Bible au début, le premier verset que vous lisez dans Genèse 1:1 dit:
« Au commencement, Dieu a créé les cieux et la terre. » .
Avant toute chose, il y avait Dieu, Il l’a toujours été, quand Il a créé les cieux et la terre, Il a tout commencé.
Ensuite, vers le milieu de la Bible, dans Ésaïe 44:6, Dieu dit:
« Ainsi parle l’Éternel, roi d’Israël et son rédempteur, L’Éternel des armées: Je suis le premier et je suis le dernier, Et hors moi il n’y a point de Dieu.»
Et pour terminer, dans Apocalypse 1:8, le dernier livre de la Bible, nous voyons la même chose,
« ‘Je suis l’Alpha et l’Oméga’, dit le Seigneur Dieu, ‘qui est, qui était, et qui doit venir, le Tout-Puissant.’ «
Alpha et Omega sont la première et la dernière lettre de l’alphabet grec.
Que Dieu s’appelle lui-même l’Alpha et l’Oméga, c’est dire qu’Il est Dieu de A à Z , du premier au dernier, de haut en bas, du début à la fin.
Comme Dieu était là au commencement, Il sera là à la fin. Il est le même Dieu au travers de toute notre histoire.
Quoi qu’il arrive dans l’avenir, Dieu le sait déjà. Il s’est déjà préparé à tout. Bien que certaines parties de notre histoire puissent être très inattendues, Dieu n’est jamais pris au dépourvu.
Souvent, nous oublions que Dieu est l’Alpha et l’Oméga, le début et la fin, et nous sommes inquiets, effrayés,…
Lorsque nous nous tournons vers Dieu pour obtenir de l’aide, nous réalisons que Dieu est Dieu.
Il n’y a rien que Dieu ne puisse pas gérer. Il est avec nous à notre début, à notre fin et merveilleusement tout le temps entre les deux.

June marks a season of endings and beginnings.
It is the end of the school year and the beginning of summer.
For graduates, it may also signify the end of school and the beginning of a new adventure with the start of their career.
For many officers in The Salvation Army, June is often a time to end an appointment and begin a new one.
In just under 2 weeks time, our time in Belgium will come to a close and return to the Uk to begin a new appointment in a few weeks time.
Endings and beginnings can elicit a number of different emotions—
sadness to be leaving the familiar, fear of the unknown future,
but also anticipation and excitement for the start of a new adventure.
No matter what beginnings and endings we face in life, we can “Be still because God is the Alpha and the Omega” and can be trusted to be with us in all circumstances.
Life is about endings and beginnings.
What are some beginnings that we experience in our lifetime? (Examples: graduating from school, beginning a new job, starting a family, moving to a new home, new friends,).
What are some endings we experience? (Health changes that impact the quality of life or living arrangements, death of a family member or friend, children moving out to make their new start, or downsizing to a smaller home).
Some beginnings and endings are good and some are not.
However no matter what beginning or ending we are facing, we can be still and know that God is the God of all beginnings and all endings.
If you open the Bible to the beginning, the first verse that you read is Genesis 1:1, which says,
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
Before anything else there was God, He has always been. When He created the heavens and the earth, He began everything.
Near the middle of the Bible, in Isaiah 44:6, God says,
“This is what the Lord says—Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from Me there is no God.”
In Revelation 1:8, the last book of the Bible, we see the same thing,
“‘I Am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.’”
Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet.
For God to call Himself the Alpha and Omega is saying He is God from A–Z—from first to last, from top to bottom, from start to finish, from beginning to end.
As God was there in the beginning, He’ll be there at the end.
He is the same God through our entire story: the good, the bad, the ugly, the scary, the exciting, and the mundane.
Whatever happens in the future, God already knows.
He has already prepared for them all. Although parts of our story can be very unexpected, God is never caught unaware or off guard.
Often we forget that God is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, and we find ourselves worried, afraid, doubting.
When we do look to God for help, we can then be still in the knowledge that God is God
There is nothing that God cannot handle. He is with us at our beginning, our end and wonderfully all the time in-between.
