Het grootste deel van het paasverhaal is niet zo opvallend. Verraad, jaloezie, gebrek aan rechtvaardigheid, wreedheid, marteling, executie, zelfs iemand die zichzelf opoffert, is niet ongewoon. Deze dingen gebeuren elke dag met anderen. Jezus dood en de redenen ervoor zijn niet zo uniek. En ze vereisen geen geloof om te geloven dat ze gebeurd zijn, wat geloof vereist is of hij werkelijk is opgestaan?
De moderne geest vindt het moeilijk om te reageren op de Kerst- en Paasverhalen die gevuld zijn met fantastische hoogtepunten, van de maagdelijke geboorte, de engelen, de fantastische wonderen, tot de verrijzenis uit de dood. Het is het tegengesteld aan de normale natuurlijke orde.
Het zijn echter middelen die ingewikkelde of moeilijke waarheden overbrengen om ons begrip te bevorderen.
De verrijzenis is gebeurd! Ja, er is geen twijfel mogelijk, maar hoe het gebeurde is een andere zaak.
Zekerheden vereisen geen geloof – dat de zon morgen zal opkomen is een zekerheid, er is geen geloof voor nodig om het te laten gebeuren of voor ons om te geloven dat het zal gebeuren.
Dat wij ouder worden is een zekerheid, hoeveel ouder is niet zeker.
De verrijzenis van Jezus wordt als waarheid of als leugen gezien, het vereist geloof om het te geloven en geen geloof om het niet te geloven.
Maar als iemand geen geloof heeft, kan God onmogelijk blij met hem zijn. Want als iemand naar God toe komt, moet hij geloven dat HIJ IS wie Hij zegt dat Hij is, en dat Hij de mensen beloont die werkelijk naar Hem verlangen. Hebreeën 11 :6
Als ik geloof dat Jezus is opgestaan uit de dood, dan kan ik ook geloven dat ik eeuwig leven zal ontvangen in het hiernamaals, in het geestelijke eeuwige leven.
Als ik niet geloof dat Jezus is opgestaan, dan kan ik ook geen geloof voor mijzelf hebben.
Laat ons hart vandaag in ons branden als onze geestelijke zintuigen zich bewust worden van Jezus aanwezigheid.
Most of the Easter story is not so unremarkable , treachery , jealousy, lack of justice,
Cruelty, torture , execution , even someone sacrificing them selves , is not uncommon. These things happen to others everyday . Jesus death and the reasons for it are not so unique .
And they require no faith to believe if they happened , what requires faith is did he rise again ?
What requires faith is to move on in our spiritual journey past where we are today .
The modern mind finds it difficult to respond to the Christmas and Easter stories , filled with the fantastical highlights , of the virgin birth, the angles, the fantastic miracles, the coming back from the dead . It is opposite to the normal natural order .
However they are vehicles that convey complicated or difficult truths to help our comprehension .
The resurrection happened ! Yes there is no doubt , but how it happened is another matter .
Certainties do not require faith – the sun will rise tomorrow , is a certainty , it does not require faith for it to happen or for us to believe it will happen .
We will grow older is a certainty, how much older is not certain.
Jesus resurrection is perceived either as truth or as false, it requires faith to believe it and no faith to disbelieve it.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” — Hebrews 11:6
If I have faith that Jesus rose from the dead then I can also have faith that I to will receive eternal life in the life to come , in the spiritual everlasting life.
If I do not have faith that Jesus rose , then I cannot have faith for myself either.
Let our hearts burn within us today as our spiritual senses become aware of Jesus presence.
